What We’re Passionate about
Our mission is to build relationships and impact lives for Jesus Christ. We have seen time and time again that Christ-centered relationships change lives. Whether it’s a camper experiencing the love of God for the first time, or a summer staffer re-surrendering their life to Jesus, we are committed to helping each person feel known and loved by their Creator and by us. Our community is selfless, joyful, and hungry for Jesus as we use our gifts for The Kingdom.
What to Expect
The Cornerstone Program kicks off in May with three months in our summer camp program, the heart (pun intended) of Heartland’s ministry. Our summer positions range from camp counselors and high ropes facilitators to logistics coordinators and marketing interns, but all involve playing silly games with campers, worshipping the Lord with fellow staffers, and giving your all for Jesus. Our staff website has ALL the information about summer, including descriptions of our many positions!
From September through the following May, Cornerstone participants spend 40-45 hours per week working in ministry, studying, and investing in their community. This time is split between serving at Heartland, pursuing skills/experience that will benefit you after the program, and time spent in spiritual development and community activities. When you’re not working, the rest of each week is yours to explore Kansas City, connect with friends and family, or even skydive at the airport only 2.1 miles from our property!
Throughout the year, our Cornerstone class will go on several trips and retreats to build community, spend time in God’s presence, and serve God’s Kingdom across the world. Our most anticipated trip is the trip to Israel in the spring semester! We spend 10 days traveling to the Holy Land, being immersed in the land where Jesus walked.
