Heartland has partnered with churches through Traveling Day Camp across the Midwest since 2012 and we’ve been doing Christian camping since 1958!

What is Traveling Day Camp?
Traveling Day Camp
Is a week-long unique blend of outdoor ministries and congregational ministry
Is designed for young people who have completed grades K-6
Heartland Camp provides all programming (art supplies, game equipment, curriculum resources, and activities)
Is supported by the host congregation through planning, promotion of the program, and providing volunteers
Strengths of Our Traveling Day Camp
Is a uniquely relational ministry with an emphasis on offering quality Christian role models for young people
Provides traveling teams that are comprised of exceptional young adults who are passionate about their faith and children’s ministry
Includes trained staff who are equipped to lead Bible studies, worship, singing, crafts, and recreation

*Heartland charges the church and the church then determines the fee per camper. The fee per camper varies among churches.

For Parents:
Traveling Day Camp Registration for 2025 is not open yet. We will put details of the dates and churches we are visiting later this fall as well as a registration link. We are excited to bring camp to your community next summer!

For Volunteers:
Steps to Being an AWESOME Volunteer:
1. Get in contact with your church’s camp coordinator
2. Read our Traveling Day Camp Volunteer Basics and Volunteer Policies and Procedures Packet
3. Fill out this online Traveling Day Camp Volunteer Form (should take 10-15 minutes):
Before filling out your online volunteer form, we recommend you gather the following information (you cannot save the form and finish later):
Two character references (first and last name, reference’s email)
Date of last tetanus shot (month/year)
Current medications/side-affects
All information on our online form is kept confidential and secure. Once you complete the form, we will forward it to your church coordinator!
4. Attend the Sunday training before your week of traveling day camp to meet other volunteers, meet Heartland staff, and learn essential information for the week.
5. Show up at your week of Traveling Day Camp ready to serve the Lord and love kids (hooray)!
For Junior Counselors:
Junior counselors are youth who support the traveling day camp program and are between the ages of 12* (completed 7th grade) and 15. Once youth reach 16, they are eligible to be a volunteer (see the section above).

2. Fill out this online Junior Counselor Form (should take 10 minutes):
