Lake Day
Why Lake Day?
The simple answer is that it will be a ton of fun! Several of our activities at Heartland are individually focused hour-long sessions like archery, horseback riding, or zip-lining. Lake day was intentionally created to add time for our groups to have a full day of face-to-face fun. Swimming, paddleboarding, and games will be filled with laughter and making memories. With so many options at Lake Day, it will give our older campers a chance to personalize their camp experience and build relationships with their family group.
What is Lake Day?
A classic day spent at Smithville lake, with timeless activities. Campers will be canoeing, paddleboarding and swimming. They will spend time lounging out on the lake on floating mats and hanging on the beach in hammocks. Campers will have the chance to paddleboard and water joust. There will also be plenty of games on the beach like sand volleyball, Spikeball, and Can Jam. This will be a full day; campers will leave Heartland after breakfast and return right before dinner.
Safety
Safety will always be our priority. Campers will be spending the day in their small groups, always within sight of their counselors. When campers are on the water, they will be with a certified lifeguard and wear life vests.
Transportation to and from camp will happen in our 15 passenger vans. We follow all ACA travel procedures including all drivers being over 21 and trained on our vehicles.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call our office or send an email to Jared at program1@heartlandcenter.org.
Horseback Riding
To give time in our schedule for a full Lake Day and allow us to continue to have a healthy herd of horses here at Heartland. Our Middle School and High School campers will not ride horses at Overnight Camp.
The camps that are exceptions who do ride horses are Horse Camp, Unplugged, Double Down, and Service Partnership.
