Week 7: Challenge Camp
Challenge camp is by far one of my favorite weeks at camp. Throughout the week campers have been faced with obstacles that have challenged them physically, mentally and spiritually.
The week started out with 12 campers arriving Sunday afternoon and has been a non-stop, fun-filled week since. Campers have received the opportunity to test their physical ability on the low and high ropes courses, as well as, engage in physically and mentally demanding activities. These activities have included a camp version of a "spartan" obstacle course, Heartland "Ninja Warrior" Heartland Summer Olympics and an old fashioned Rodeo show-down. complete with bull-fighting and goat tying (definitely ask your camper about it when they return home.)
Spiritually, each camper has been challenged as well. As an ongoing challenge, campers have been given memory work to challenge their minds and deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ. Each camper has been individually created and fashioned after the image of our magnificent God. Challenge camp is unique from other camps, in that, each camper is stretched and encouraged outside their comfort zone to become a part of something greater than themselves.
It is always fun to see how God will show up to each camper and reveal himself to their specific needs. The Lord is definitely at work here at Heartland. Thank you for sharing your camper with us.
In Christ,
