Week 8: Living on the Edge with Edge Camp
While so many exciting things have happened at Edge Camp this week, such as, high ropes, archery and scuba diving (!). I wanted to share with you one special challenge the campers were given. I truly saw God working through this experience and enjoyed spending this time with the campers.
We had a cooking challenge yesterday, teams of 9 campers and two counselors were given 25 minutes to prepare an appetizer over a campfire with various unique ingredients and cooking utensils. Their creations were judged on three categories: presentation, taste, and overall incorporation of the special ingredient (fresh mango).
One team prepared a lemon chicken and dehydrated pepper enchilada with a four-cheese sauce and mango salsa (sounds crazy right? It was delicious!) The other group created a beef mango fajita wrap with nacho cheese, fresh onion and fresh green pepper. It too was surprisingly very tasty.
It was great to see every camper eagerly engaged in the activity and working together to combine these ingredients which normally wouldn't share the same plate. Their small groups were as varied as their groceries, each camper brought their own unique flavors and textures to the meal. It was exciting to see the Master Chef at work as each camper's gifts were added to the dish with Christ as the special ingredient.
