Become a Prayer Warrior for Heartland this Summer!
There are many different ways to talk to our incredible God. You can dive into our Creator’s Word, worship alongside our God, or spend time with God in His creation. But for this blog entry, we will be talking about one of the most intimate and beautiful forms of communication: PRAYER! Join us as we break down the importance of prayer and provide you with a list of our needed prayers at camp this summer!
Importance of Prayer
Why do we pray? Well, there are many reasons to pray: to act in service, to provide comfort, to communicate, etc. But at the root of its existence, prayer is an act propelling us into a relationship with our Creator. Much like a human relationship on Earth, a relationship with God requires communication. A relationship would be quite dull if you never talked to the person, don’t you think? We are lucky to be children of God, because our Father delights to hear from us each day-- both in the good times and bad! Isn’t that amazing??
Some prayer wisdom nuggets featuring our staff and campers!:
“There are so many reasons why I pray, but personally I do it because I know it works. I find prayer as a time I can share my heart with my Creator. God sees me where I stand, and He is able to communicate with me on a personal level. He is able to challenge me while simultaneously bringing me closer to Him.” - Jared Briscoe, Overnight Camp Program Director
“Simply, I pray to talk to the BEST God ever! I want to get close to Him, and spend time talking to Him.” - Anna Rasmussen, Support Staff Counselor
“I pray because I want to learn about God, and that's what the Gospel tells me to do. To be friends with Him, we gotta talk to Him, and I like talking to Him!” - A Green Alpha Camper
We’re so glad that both our campers and staff share an understanding of the importance of prayer--especially as it pertains to creating a relationship with our Creator! Now let’s check in with our Executive Director Dan Scheneman and our Day Camp Program Director Andrea Cronin for our prayer requests for the campers and staff of the 2020 summer camp season!
Prayer Requests
Join us in prayer! Please join us in praying for...
Intentional and loving relationships with others and God for all! When asked about prayer needs, our Executive Director Dan Scheneman and our Day Camp Program Director Andrea Cronin emphasize this, “Above all, we desire prayers that our camp continues to foster and encourage an intimate relationship with God for campers. We’ve already had kids this summer build lasting relationships with each other and make new friends. But we hope that all incoming children feel the same way and have a desire to share these intentional relationships with others.”
Wisdom and Energy for our Summer Staff We also desire prayers for the summer staff. As they take on the unprecedented challenges this summer, we ask you to pray for their wisdom and energy to empower each camper to learn new things.
A Healthy & Fun Summer As with the climate coming into the camp season, we also stress the importance of prayer for the health and safety of the campers and staff. Our Day Camp Program Director, Andrea Cronin, shares “Even though we are trying everything in our power to curb the coronavirus at camp, we still pray for safety and good health for all our campers and their activities.”
Thank you for taking the time to pray for us! As we continue to hold health, safety, and loving relationships as our number one priorities, we SO appreciate your lifting up these prayers. With these as our priorities campers and counselors alike feel empowered to share the Love of Jesus Christ here and beyond.
Please continue praying for us this summer. Like, set a reminder right now on your phone for heartland prayers every Sunday at 3pm, before our overnight camps start. Thank you prayer warriors! <3
