What Makes Camp AWESOME?!

At Heartland, God lays an AWESOME foundation for your kids and their family group. We love being a part of what God's doing here and helping family groups customize their experiences to make this week their best. Week. EVER!
Many campers call Heartland a home away from home, but the location is not what makes camp impactful. The culmination of our counselor's small but powerful everyday actions AND Jesus' love makes camp impactful.  The most important action our staff chooses over and over is to follow Jesus and His example. Making Him our cornerstone empowers our counselors to create a consistent and safe environment for all. An environment where campers will be loved, encouraged, feel safe to be silly, grow, and try new things.
All the goodies we crafted for your child over the past 365 days make up Layer #2 of this beautiful foundation. These goodies include our outstanding curriculum, activities, and crafts that our super talented year-round staff and board have intentionally created with your child in mind.
Here is the cherry on top, the cream de la creme, Layer #3, our ideal camp schedule. We have been fine-tuning this schedule for the past 60 years. So, what's the secret to a perfect camp schedule? A balance of structure and freedom. We load scheduled time with high energy games, engaging craft, core activities like swim time, and inspiring Bible studies. Next, our counselors help make that freedom part rock. Before the end of the first night, counselors learn each camper's strengths and passions.  Then, by Monday morning, they are able to guide your child's family group in creating a stellar week.
