MS Night Owl - Week 9
If we all are honest with ourselves, in Middle School, many things felt BIG at the time. We went through BIG changes, may have had some BIG crushes, and also a lot of BIG feelings.
I have felt so blessed to see our God's "BIG-ness" through this year's Middle School Night Owl campers. They have shown God's joy in silly chants and cheers, God's patience in slow-growing relationships, God's depth in their questioning, and God's inclusion in the building of camp fams.
Our three groups (The Insomniacs, The Midnight Snackerz, and The Lumpy Chunky Pickles), spoke yesterday about letting go of their burdens. Throughout the day, they carried cinderblocks across camp to represent the weight of those burdens. At our midnight Vespers, the groups smashed their bricks and dove deeper into a discussion about the problems they want to let go of. At that moment, I was reminded of how BIG our God is and how He is big enough to heal us and bring us all together. Indeed, this week has shown me the expansive love of a kind and forgiving Lord through the campers!
