Week 7: All Stars

Our group is incredibly close knit. My favorite part of seeing them together is that they are great at vocalizing their appreciation of one another. That is rare in campers this age, so I appreciate how open they are with each other.

Building Relationships by Baking Cookies

There is no doubt that the best part of the Christmas season is celebrating the birth of Jesus. We have an advent blog series to help prepare us for that. The much tougher question would be, what is the second best part of the Christmas season? Presents, reading by the fire, Christmas music, and Hallmark Christmas movies all have a claim on this second spot. Let's be honest those are great, but one tradition rises above the rest, baking Christmas cookies.

They Won't Be Expecting That!

I think that too much of the time, we think we have God’s plan for us all figured out. We get into a routine and then when something happens that isn’t according to “the plan”, we are completely thrown off and our lives get turned upside down.

Waiting

Welcome to Advent, a season of waiting. Advent is the season between the Sunday after Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve. This time of advent is defined as “waiting for someone notable,” and I’d say we’re waiting for someone quite notable.

Activities for an Active God

At camp all of our Bible studies, worships, horse rides, and games show the love of God in a tangible way. These lessons are not limited to camp, because God's word is not limited to camp. Here are a couple ways to have an active Bible lesson with your kids at home or in the backyard.

3 Camp Crafts Under $3

Over the summer, between our day and overnight camps, many different crafts are made at Heartland. It has been such a blessing to see how creative our campers are because they have a Creator that is so good. We are going to share with you three crafts that we made together last summer that are affordable and can serve as a reminder of Bible stories and practices in Christian life.

Winter may be here to stay, but that doesn't mean that the games have to go. Heartland has come up with some twists on classic camp games to make them perfect for playing in the snow or for spending a long day indoors!
